Meet Elise Garcia

I Hello! I’m Elise Garcia, a professional muralist, or as I like to say, a professional wall doodler.

Part time ladder acrobat, full time color enthusiast, I paint murals that bring personality and life into spaces people walk past every day, from school hallways to clinic waiting rooms to apartment lobbies.

My process usually involves too much coffee, a playlist that jumps from Bad Bunny to The Beatles without warning, and a serious commitment to making walls less boring.

My path here started nowhere near a wall. I built my career painting hand painted longboards, one tiny, detailed design at a time, running that shop as my own business for years. That early chapter taught me two things I still rely on every single day: the technical patience it takes to paint small and precise, and the client relationship skills that only come from running your own shop.

Then one longboard customer asked if I’d paint a mural in her guest room, and everything changed. The moment I felt how much more energizing it was to work on a large scale wall compared to a tiny board, I knew exactly where my career was headed. I haven’t picked up a longboard since.

To me, a mural should never just decorate a wall. It should tell a story, shift the mood of a room, and honestly, give people a reason to stop, smile, and snap a photo in front of it.

Get to know me a little better

It actually started with longboards, not walls. I spent years running a hand painted longboard shop, and it was a customer from that shop who first asked me to paint a mural in her guest room. That one favor turned into the start of an entirely new career.

The switch happened fast, almost the moment I picked up a brush at full wall scale instead of longboard size. Large format painting felt so much more alive and satisfying that going back to small scale work never crossed my mind again. These days I don’t paint a single longboard. Murals are the only thing on my easel.

Setting the tone for someone’s day. A mural in a school entryway can shape how a kid feels walking in each morning, and a mural in an office or clinic can be the first warm, human touch a visitor sees when they walk through the door. Creating that little shift in mood, that spark of joy, is genuinely my favorite part of the job.

Years spent running my own longboard business, long before I ever touched a wall, gave me a strong foundation in client relationships and customer service that most muralists never get the chance to build. On the technical side, all that time painting small, intricate longboard designs sharpened my hand and my eye in a way that made the leap to large scale murals feel completely natural rather than intimidating.

Collaborative, first and foremost. I never want a client to feel like a line item on an invoice. I want them to feel heard, involved, and genuinely excited about the direction we’re taking together, because at the end of the day, it’s their wall and their story that I’m bringing to life.

I’m also a wedding photographer alongside my husband, and together we travel the globe shooting weddings between mural projects. Between the paint and the passports, my life ends up being one long, colorful adventure.
